Panama To Colombia
Shared groups trips to Capurgana, Colombia
Experience the wonders of Guna Yala with transport to Colombia all included in one sailing trip. This voyage is ideal for adventure travelers, backpackers and anyone who wants to see the San Blas Islands on a budget. The Panama to Colombia sailing trip is hugely popular. For many people travelling through Latin America one of the highlights of their entire holiday.
With Micamale you will take the increasingly more popular route from San Blas to Capurgana, a small tourist destination just east of the Panama/Colombia boarder. Capurgana and the surrounding areas, including Sapzurro and La Miel are a hidden treasure of Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Foreign tourism is still in its infancy here, however the area is extremely popular with Colombians who come from the cities at weekends and holidays. The bays along this stretch of coast have some great beaches, hiking opportunities, horse riding and even scuba diving. It is also a great place to switch off and relax for a few days, there are no roads or noisy nightclubs here.
Our trip is three nights in total which includes three days exploring the San Blas Islands. We miss a large stretch of open ocean sailing which normally lasts 35 – 40 hours and be very rough during many months of the year. Instead you will enjoy a more leisurely trip in the islands with with less transit time at sea by taking the shorter coastal route to the boarder region,

You will meet the boat in Carti. That means you need to leave Panama City early in the morning of departure by shared 4×4 vehicle and then take a short boat transfer to where the boat will be anchored offshore, Once you have booked your trip with us we will ask you where you want to be collected from in Panama City, we will organise the transport directly with the 3rd party providers who will send you a confirmation email a day or two before departure. On the morning of departure your driver will make a final stop at an ATM if you need more cash. After leaving the city there will be no other cash services available until Necocli in Colombia.
We advise you to separate your luggage before you leave the city. Try to pack what you will need for your days on the boat separate to your main large luggage/backpack. You may want to buy a garbage bag to protect your luggage as well in cash it gets wet in the boat transfer.
Once in the islands there will be limited opportunities to make any purchases so make sure to bring alcoholic drinks if you want. All meals, drinking water, tea and coffee are included.
After all passengers have arrived from Panama City to Carti, Micamale will set off for the first anchorage. In total you will spend 3 full days in the San Blas Islands. Typically visiting 3 different anchorages and groups of islands. You will have the chance to visit local villages, swim, snorkel and BBQ on the beach.
